Investors Will Not Regret For Investing In Malaysia

PENANG, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Saturday that Malaysia will ensure that foreign investors will not regret for investing in the country.
He said the government was giving its full support to foreign investors to justify their selection of Malaysia as an investment centre.
Dr Mahathir said the government's investment-friendly attitude was evident as it organised yearly dialogues with the private sector.
The government had always tried its best to solve all problems that were raised at the dialogues, he said in his brief speech at the presentation of the Sirim certificate for IBM's desktop computer here.
Earlier, Dr Mahathir, his deputy Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Hilmi Yahaya witnessed the presentation of the IEC 60950 Standard to IBM by Sirim.
Sirim vice-president Abdul Aziz Abdul Manan presented the certificate to Sanmina-SCI Penang vice-president Lim Yook Yuen. Sanmina-SCI manufactures the IBM computer in Malaysia.
IBM Malaysia managing director Voon Seng Chuan said IBM's decision to relocate its PC production process to Penang would result in a better integrated supply chain for the company's Asean customers.
"Through meticulous planning and well-coordinated implementation of development strategies over the past two decades, Penang has established a reputation for itself as a major investment centre within the Asean and Asia-Pacific regions," said Voon.
IBM is targeting to produce 200,000 units of PCs in Malaysia per year for the Asean market.
