EU to enhance ties with Malaysia

Brussels, May 9, IRNA -- The European Commission adopted The Country Strategy Paper, which sets out a five-year strategy (2002-2006) for its cooperation with Malaysia.

At the same time, it announced that over the next three years, 2002-2004, an indicative sum of 3.5 million euros has been earmarked to finance this strategy.

The paper has been prepared in consultation with the Government of Malaysia and EU Member States.

The objective of EC-Malaysia cooperation is to enhance bilateral relationship in particular through strengthening of the economic and educational and cultural links.

Two priority sectors have been set to implement this strategy: trade and investment, and higher education, announced the EU.
