Two Tuns, 21 Tan Sris In Agong's
Birthday Honours List

KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- Former Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Abdullah Salleh and Malaysia's first woman Cabinet minister, Tan Sri Fatimah Hashim, have been conferred the 'Seri Setia Mahkota' (SSM) which carries the title 'Tun', in conjunction with the birthday of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail Saturday.
They head the list of 2,318 recipients of awards and honours including 21 recipients of the 'Panglima Setia Mahkota' (PSM) which carries the title 'Tan Sri', 54 recipients of the 'Panglima Jasa Negara' (PJN) and three the 'Panglima Setia Di Raja' (PSD), both carrying the title 'Datuk'.
Abdullah served as Chief Secretary to the Government from 1976 to 1978 while Fatimah was Welfare Services Minister from 1969 to 1973.
The PSM recipients include Attorney-General Datuk Abdul Gani Patail, Election Commission chairman Datuk Wira Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, Chief Judge of Malaya Datuk Haidar Mohamed Noor, Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and Public Works Department Director-General Datuk Zaini Omar.
Other recipients include Inland Revenue Board Director-General Datuk Zainol Abidin Abdul Rashid, Royal Customs Director-General Datuk Paduka Abdul Halil Abdul Mutalib, two former Cabinet ministers Datuk Seri Zaleha Ismail and Datuk Seri Dr Ting Chew Peh, former Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Anuwar Ali, National Heart Institute chief executive officer Datuk Dr Yahya Awang, Armed Forces Fund Board chief executive Datuk Lodin Wok Kamaruddin, Selangor MIC committee member Datuk Hari Narayanan Govindasamy, Penang MCA chairman Datuk Dr Sak Cheng Lum, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) president Datuk Dr Ng Law Swee, and corporate figures Datuk Majid Khan, Datuk Chai Kin Kong, Datuk Dr Gan Kong Seng, Datuk Tan Chee Sing, Datuk Hamdan Mohamad and Datuk Abdullah Ali.
Veteran singer Sharifah Aini and Malay films veteran Datuk L. Krishnan are among the recipients of the PJN.

Three recipients of the PSD are Senior Deputy Secretary-General in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Muhammad Mohamed Noor, VVIP pilot Brig-Jen Mohamed Hanif Darimi and Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Assistant Chief of Staff Mej-Jen Datuk Nik Ismail Nik Mohamed.
Sixteen others have been conferred the 'Johan Mangku Negara' (JMN), 67 the 'Johan Setia Mahkota' (JSM), four the 'Johan Setia Di Raja' (JSD), 345 the 'Kesatria Mangku Negara' (KMN), nine the 'Kesatria Setia Di Raja' (KSD), 794 the 'Ahli Mangku Negara' (AMN), 970 the 'Pingat Pangkuan Negara' (PPN), 31 the 'Bentara Setia Di Raja' (BSD) and two the 'Kepujian Perutusan Keberanian' (KPK).
Recipients of the JMN include Election Commission secretary Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, Deputy Director-General 1 of the Research Division in the Prime Minister's Department Tengku Datuk Abdul Ghafar Tengku Mohamed, Director-General of Defence Intelligence Lt-Jen Datuk Wan Abu Bakar Omar, CID Deputy Director Datuk Maizan Shaari, a commissioner in the Attorney-General's Chambers Datuk Salmah Abdul Rahman and Public Service Commission Secretary Datuk Ibrahim Mohamed Shariff.
Popular singer Siti Nurhaliza who won several awards locally and abroad, and RTM's Director of Music Datuk Mokhzani Ismail are among the recipients of the JSM.
Several members of the Joint Media Team Malaysia (JMTM) who covered the Iraq war have been conferred the KMN or the AMN.
Among those who received the KMN are senior writer of The Star Shahanaz Habib, RTM journalist Zulkafly Baharuddin, Bernama cameraman Harry Salzman Abu Bakar and Berita Harian photographer Kamaruddin Ahmad.
Two police personnel, Fadililah Sarwan and Megat Rosli Megat Abdullah, received the KPK. -- BERNAMA
